Subject: A breath of fresh air!
I've seen many versions of the post GD bands composed by the remaining members. Until this night though I never could feel the old vibe, or the goosebumps that used to hit throughout the night. These guys are playing GD...the way it was intended. By the end of the night, my face hurt from the constant smile on my face.

P.S. A special thanks to Katy and John K for your hospitality...I had a really great time.

Subject: Hometown Show
Certainly one of the times I enjoy hailing from Wallingford! The Oakdale (now known as Toyota presents Oakdale) is a staple of music and theatre in mid-state Connecticut. When they built this new place they got the acoustics right. Too bad our taper friend (thanks!) had a crummy spot. None the less the recording is still excellent. Likely the best show I've seen in the new building.

Subject: Don't tell me this town ain't got no heart
After hearing the Oakland shows I knew this band was destined for grateness. Well the proof is here in the pudding with a few more shows under their belt. This weekend turned out to be another historic one for the faithful.
This night featured a sick and long Shakedown that has the entire band really laying it down big time.Phil really played nice and loud this entire night. I agree about Alabama, it got out of control, but in a good way.
Now one has mentioned Music yet, so I will, it was a stellar version, with JK really playing some inspired powered leads, and except for the "Never Stop" rant by Bobby at the end, it was perfect. I hope he stops that and just lets the music do the talking.

Set II was easily the best this band has played yet. They were passionate and an esemble as the jams were intense and dramatic. The opening jam into China Cat Sunflower was amazing! The Eyes of the World is easily one of the best since Jerry passed on. It has amazing solos from Jeff and John and Phil is a monster in it.

I will also focus on the Dark Star, which I think is much better than the one played in Nassau in the spring. They pretty much stay with the theme the entire song and it recalls version from the spring of '74 at points, with the band developing a sequence and bringing to a peak before drfiting off again. Even for fans who don't like DS they will enjoy this one. It has that type of appeal because the melody is brought back through out the entire song and it never gets too far out there.

I have to say that Strawberry Fields Forever was easily the OMG moment of the tour, I did not see that one coming.Phil sings a poetic version that has a very nice jam into St. Stephen. This version may be the best of the year, it is flawless and full of power. The end jam before the final verse is quite good and then they explode into the Eleven. Thse two songs are easily a highlight of the night and mini tour.
Then with out missing a beat they go right into a full out ragin' NFA.
The band is full of high energy and delivers one for the faithful. I have to say I can't recall hearing such a powerful and sustanined NFA chant as I did this night after they finished the set. We would just not stop :)
"Bop bop!"

Then to get a GDTRFB encore? OMG we were in heaven. All the wives and families were dancing like crazy on the side of the stage too. The scene was very cool as they let us dance freely between the two sections the entire night, which has plenty of room for all and it was carpeted too.
Truely a special night.
Thank you once again guys

Subject: A tremendous night
Although the first set has a few rocky moments, this show (second set especially) gets me excited for what's to come from this band. JK smokes in this show. JC is amazing as well.

Taper - this is a nice pull, even though you consider it a crappy spot. Great work and thanks for sharing!

Subject: Getaway got-away in a goodway
Agree with everything ScarletFire said about show... Except that Alabama Getaway was really pretty cool I thought. In fact it sounded like it got almost too hot the band didn't quite know how to control it. You hear a couple touch n go's towards the end (ex around 4:40). A.G. should be utterly smoking soon at this pace.
As previously mentioned - JK is no joke.
Sounded like a fantastic show for a fun crowd. Thanks taper.

Subject: 2nd set
The continuity of the 2nd set says a lot: old school with no breaks. The Chinacat>Eyes was the real thing. I have been blissed out for the past week from the experience. The show was so good I didn't mind the 27>24 degree parking lot scene.

Subject: Awesome
Kind thanks for posting, have been checking daily and am psyched to see this up here now. I had been predicting a Shakedown Opener all week before this show(Optomistically because i feel any show that opens with Shakedown is going to be a great show). Arguably one of the best shows I have seen and definitely one of the tightest line-ups Phil and Bobby have put together. Goosebumps during the show too many times to count. I think the crowd would have kept singing Not Fade Away forever after the band left the stage and was thinking Bobby and Phil could have gone down to Pepe's gotten some pizza, came back and the crowd would still be going, BOP, BOP, BOP......BOP BOP.

Thanks for the upload. Awesome show and esp that second set. Everyone was on and it showed. Not a bad seat in the house and a great crowd...made a pile of friends. On to RCMH and MSC, and hopefully a couple more show.

This show was all that I expected it would be. They opened with tuning and from the moment it started, i could tell Chimenti's piano was gunna be waaaay up in the mix. it was so loud. Shakedown started and didnt seem to end, which was amazing. Phil had some funky lines which complimented Bobby's frequent whammy bar use. Alabama Getaway followed which wasnt really anything special, except for Chimenti's organ solo. Next up was Weir's fucky version of the Pigpen staple, Schoolgirl. After this, I could see Lesh walking up to his mic so i knew he was gunna belt one out. Cucamonga was great with Lesh way up in the mix. Lucy follwed which gave the crowd a chance to take part by singing "YEAH." Bobby sang Minglewood after which was very nice. He personalized it by including "Right here in New Haven." Music Never Stopped followed and ended the set. The break seemed longer than usual, but it was just in preparation for the unbelievable set to come. China Cat into Eyes was very unexpected, but welcomed. I loved Lesh singing Eyes. Born Cross Eyed took me back to 4/19/09 with the Dead and then came a 23 minute Dark Star which was really staring to get weird, but in a good way. Strawberry Fields was a nice surprise. St Stephen had the whole place singin along and it evolved into a Weir rendition of the Eleven. NFA followed and had the ENTIRE audience singing and clapping long after the band left the stage. Lesh came on and did his speech which really put a smile on my face. Then they closed the night with GDTRFB and off we went, in the cold, to our cars, very satisfied. and i was getting nervous no one taped this, so thanks to the taper!!!!
